The Alexandria
Campus Library loves film adaptations and you should, too. In this season's
feature film display we highlight a selection of works of prose, poetry, and
journalism that have been adapted to the screen. Our showcased films and texts
represent only a small portion of the estimated sixty-five percent of films
that are based on a literary work, but study of our selections will help
students to understand the difficulty of translating one form of art into
another, the inherent strengths and limitations of various mediums, the role of
storytelling in human societies.

So come
explore the relationship between writers and film makers, compare original and
derivative works, and maybe discover a new author or director. In the process
you can learn what it takes to adapt, successfully.
