STEM Day comes to the Library

On Saturday 1 April the Alexandria Campus celebrated NOVA STEM Day.  The campus welcomed over 300 neighbors and community partners to a day full of activities and events.

In the Library, visitors explored the mathematics of paper folding (and the promise of the science of folding, for more see The Origami Revolution,  and also of course the ecology of butterflies), producing hundreds of paper butterflies currently taking flight:

STEM attendees also had an opportunity to learn about the role of aquatic grasses in nurturing the health of the Chesapeake Bay, and enjoyed hands-on algae abatement activities.

Visit YOUR Library today to watch our grass grow, or see our butterflies fly!
